Introduction of Carp Hatchery Complex, Shantiganj, Sunamganj

A government hatchery under Directorate of Fisheries, Sunamganj is Carp Hatchery Complex, Shantiganj, Sunamganj. The hatchery is run under the revenue budget of the Department of Fisheries. These hatcheries mainly produce eggs and fingerlings of various fish like carp and supply them to fish farmers and farmers at government prices. Apart from that, under the revenue budget, healthy fry are supplied from this hatchery in different upazilas in open water fry release program. The said hatchery is located on the side of Sunamganj-Sylhet road in Shantiganj (South Sunamganj) upazila of Sunamganj district. Therefore, it is easy to communicate by road from any upazila of the district and it is easy to collect renu and pona. Moreover, every year training is provided here on good fishing and various related subjects. This institution is playing an important role in fish farming in Sunamganj district.
